It is the first time Bunkerworld has had a stand at the Posidonia event. The biennial event attracts visitors from across the maritime sector worldwide. This year it is expected to see visitor numbers top 17,000.
Posidonia 2010 is being held in the Hellenikon Exhibition Centre in Athens. It is sponsored by the Greek Ministry of Economy, Competitiveness and Shipping and a range of organisations from the Greek maritime industry.
The Union of Greek Shipowners (UGS) has called Posidonia 2010 "a first class opportunity for crisis- battered Greece" to demonstrate the achievements of its shipping industry.
"Shipping is the only sector of the national economy that has not contributed to unemployment, despite the most adverse circumstances," said UGS President Theodore Veniamis.
"Posidonia 2010 finds Greek shipping in the midst of a dire crisis affecting the whole planet and demanding the fullest mobilization of maritime know-how and experience in order to safeguard its position now and in the future."
